EMI spends $50M a year shredding unsold CDs
I found this blog post starting with the Lefsetz letter, then on to Seth Godin, and finally arriving to Marc Andreessen. The actual source is an article in the Financial Times (a site requiring registration).
It’s apparent that the only thing that makes sense is digital distribution. One has to wonder whether there was a better approach to recover some money, rather than writing off $50M.
In closing, I can only say that I hope they’re recycling!
